I was confident on this before, you have just made me super confident.
I have been saying all along that one can get a same/similar job after 180 days irrespective of the whether I-140 was approved or not. I don't know why some people / lawyers spread so much mis-information on this topic.

no receipt notice yet. Checks haven't been cashed as of this morning.
i sent application for me and my wife on july 6th NSC my I 140 was applied in TSC . i am NJ resident. wife took info pass appointmnet as no check cashed, no notice receive. started worrying now. as NSC is updating even new applications no sure if my case was transferred to TSC or not . any body in same boat ? application was signed by R williams in NSC.

If we see the history H1B and GC numbers were never increased except 2004 20k inpast 15 years In 2000 it was increasd temporarlily for 4 years.Also EB numbers were never increased except temporary reliefs.If it is increased by Skill bill in current form that is really an acheivement. If there is a possiblity they may increase H1B because that is temorary visa(But in reallity not) and GC numbers may remain same. But if increased to 115k then also cap will be reached in another 1 month because there are more number of Desi companies than number of H1Bs. Thats why they are asking exemptions for MS people and 20% adjustment for every year. We have to wait and see whether congress fall on this trap to do this without analysing the impact.

Removal of country limits temporarily and permanently, will both require the support of the majority of both houses of the congress. It will require as much effort to to remove country limits temporarily as it will require to remove country limits permanently.
Some folks here just wants to remove country limits till the time they get their agree card i.e. for the span of 2 years. If removal of country limits is good for EB community and America, then why only remove it for 2 years ONLY.
Such a campaign is likely to divide this community. PLEASE DO NOT divide the community by supporting this mis-directed agenda.
If country caps can be removed temporarily then they can be removed permanently. But asking for less than what key lawmakers have already proposed less than 6 months back is like shooting ourselves in the foot. PLEASE DO NOT throw others under the bus. PLEASE!!!!

If USCIS cannot recapture lost visas from 1992 to 2008 then can it forward capture the visas from next 30 years and clear the backlog?
This way the US can have a stated policy of not accepting any EB immigrant from India/China for next 30 years.
It will also avoid the issue of people retiring doing the same or similar job for 20+ years and without a green card.
It will prevent one generation from India/China from being fooled into American Dream.

Assume that we convert to EB2 from next week..how long would it take to get to the I-485 stage.??..given an ideal scenario of no audits..PERM 3-6 months and I-1140 can we expidite??. in 15 days..

The immigration debate for legal immigrants and illegal immigrants with substantial presence in the USA has been raging for 2 years now. Reforms consistently went through Senate but got stuck in the house. Last year has been most painful and has brought matters to a tipping point. Therefore, I conclude that after the elections things have to settle down - this matter cannot be up in the air any longer. Either we get formally and bitterly screwed or some relief pops out in the next 2-3 months.

I feel much better. These are trying times for sure.
Loads of work at the office, moving from one city to another and above all...this frustrating wait --- Its 2 much 2 handle. But I'm with u guyz...I think I shud just STFU N wait.
For all those waiting for approval, its does help to find out if a visa number has been requested for your application. My understanding is that all the applications which are ready for adjudication are moved to a separate area and visa number is requested for those.Infact if you can find out (I think the guys at Infopass only have access to that information. Not sure if the level 2 service does) it helps. If a visa number has been assigned or requested for your application it will get approved.
I am not sure if assigned to an officer or with an officer status has any material value when it comes to approval unless a visa number has been requested.

How about forcing FBI remove reference files from the name check? Basically put the name check process back to how it was pre-Nov. Dec. 2002 ? Here's the story of name check
In Oct-2002 a person was cleared by FBI as having no records but INS somehow found that he was involved in foreign counter intelligence investigation. So it asked FBI how such a person could be cleared with no records. At that time FBI checked only the main files (even today FOIPA requests checks only the main files) and it didn't find that guy in the main file. It then queried the reference files and found him there. So instead of investigating why the agent did not add this record to the main file what it did was add the reference file to search. The reference file will have all sorts of records, good or bad including stuff like traffic tickets, witness to a crime, FBI Tipping etc. So now if a person has a hit FBI has to determine whether that hit was due to a good deed or bad deed from the person. What kind of stupid decision is this ? If a fellow was missed in the main file then action should be taken to fix the main file not add all and every other file to the search and start manually separating wheat from chaff.
If the name check process is reverted to pre nov. 2002 mode things will definitely move fast.

Usually there will be another message "Notice welcoming permanrent resident sent" . Then, after a few days there will be "Approval notice sent" , the physical approval notice goes to your attorney. You should receive the physical card within 7-10 days.

I don't usually comment on such posts and I have seen a lot of people take the side I am about to take. I just think you are being unnecessarily rude. It is these people and their opinions that cause IV to exist as a group. Lets say you are going to lock membership only to people paying a membership fee every month. How big a group are you going to get?
If it is going to be significant, then maybe that's the way IV should go and should just shut down public forums where there are members who can talk and members who have "not bought their right to talk"
I bring up the "monthly membership" issue because I did make donations on multiple occasions (you should probably look up your records and verify). And yet, under the new design, I am not a donor, I do not get access to the exclusive threads that only the privileged monthly members do. So, just like the OP, I am a thankless member who thinks the group is thankless. So, I do not know what initiatives IV has taken, but yet, I linger around the forums because it has so many smart people throwing around ideas, working on theories and just being friendly.
Maybe you should just create a little forum of yours in one corner and put walls around so no one can come in and make suggestions about things you won't tell them about. Does it take that much effort to be nice to someone? Just remember that he is free to tell you what to do irrespective of who he is. What you actually do is upto you. Just be nice for a change, it will make you get a whole new perspective on life!
