Hello friends,
I was wondering about the FP notice time frame. I had applied for 485/EAD/AP on July 2nd at NSC which later got transferred to TSC. Receipts indicate that notice date is 8/27.
I was wondering how many days does it take to get FP notice from the 485 notice date? data indicates that some of the TSC guys who have notice dates of 8/29 have already got their FP notices scheduled for mid september.

I think it depends on who the primary applicant is in your Canadian PR application. If you are the primary applicant (and used your spouce's qualifications to get the extra points), you should be able to do the landing alone. But if you are the secondary applicant and your wife is the primary then I don't think you can land without her.
I think the rule is that the secondary applicants cannot land until the primary applicant has landed. (So the secondary applicants (spouce, kids) have to land either with the primary applicant or after him.

1) Contacted Senator/Congressman/Governor - No reply or progress
2) Filled 7001 form for Ombudsman - waiting for reply
3) Called USCIS 10 times in last 10 days and come to know that everything is cleared on my and wife applications. - everytime they tell someting diffrenet .
its shows how USCIS work ... as if everything is cleared our 485 should be cleared .
can't take infopass ( no option to check case status) or open SR ( as its not beyond 30 days) .

Since we are in a fighting mood, I will throw some fuel to the fire :) :)
When you think about it, reservation and quota system is actually a better deal for the upper caste.
First check out this picture, which details the population percentages and proposed reservations: File:PopulationEstimations.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PopulationEstimations.jpg)
As per the above picture, 52% of people in India belongs to Backward classes according to Mandal estimates. Since the proposed reservation for them is 27%, the reservation system works in favor of Forward classes as long as Backward classes are not uplifted from their current pathetic situation. Another way of looking at the graph is that 25.5% of people in India belongs to forward classes; and their share in the Indian pie in terms of higher education of job opportunities --> (100 - 27 - 22.5 = 50.5%). Personally I like this system, than 25.5% of us getting only 25.5% of our share.
To conclude:
If reservations stays; 25% upper caste can enjoy 50% of resources.
If reservation system goes away due to uplifting of backward classes; 25% of upper caste will have to satisfy themselves with only 25% of resources.

Guys,
Since I have not received my receipts or my checks are not cleared, I am hoping that my case got transfered to TSC or CSC. Nebraska is now producing receipts for applications filed on the first week of August. I see this big void from July 3rd to July 20th that people did not get their receipts. How many of you got receipts in this time frame from NSC?

Why don't you tell other proud americans to not
1. admit us to your educational systems,
2. give us jobs, and
3. sponsor our green cards.
Why don't posters on this forum move back to their home country and concentrate on making their home country great instead of slamming into someone else's country and just living off the wealth others have created?
The bottom line is that a SKIL act is not needed. Hundreds of thousands of American programmers have lost their job to the third world, both in outsourcing and insourcing of third world programmers who work for cheaper wages. There is absolutely no need for more foreigners here and no need for more green cards. Temporary workers are just that - temporary. If you are on a temporary visa, work your time, make some money for your family and head home when your time is up. Don't cry that we don't provide enough green cards when you knew what kind of visa you were on.

If we see the history H1B and GC numbers were never increased except 2004 20k inpast 15 years In 2000 it was increasd temporarlily for 4 years.Also EB numbers were never increased except temporary reliefs.If it is increased by Skill bill in current form that is really an acheivement. If there is a possiblity they may increase H1B because that is temorary visa(But in reallity not) and GC numbers may remain same. But if increased to 115k then also cap will be reached in another 1 month because there are more number of Desi companies than number of H1Bs. Thats why they are asking exemptions for MS people and 20% adjustment for every year. We have to wait and see whether congress fall on this trap to do this without analysing the impact.

I have a question reg. the unfair vertical spill devised by USCIS when allocating the visa numbers after the initial allocation is completed.
If the country needs EB1 categories first then the EB2 categories and then EB3 then why did they allocate equal numbers to all the three categories initially. If they needed more EB1 or EB 2 compared to EB 3 numbers they should have given 3x of numbers to EB1, 2x of numbers to EB2, and only 1x or less than that to EB3 when doing the initial allocation itself.
Its only due to some genius person's invention that USCIS decided to implement vertical spill over instead of doing a hoirzontal spill over of the numbers which will be fair.
Now the EB2 folks are going to comeback and say that EB2 deserve more rights and all that blah blah aka the fight people give whenever somebody tries to remove the unfair quota system in India. Grow up and behave like an educated person.
You can say that EB2 folks earn more... give me a break I know many EB3 folks who earn atleast 2 times more than whan an average EB2 guy earns. Its just a matter of luck(in the current scenario) that a person got applied in EB2 or EB3 category
You are taking it personally, this is not a question of you being skilled, deserving, fair skinned, blue eyed, or hairless. Why not all the spillover to to the family based gcs?
Think of it, uniting families is more important for a nation.

Any lobbying for immigration is tough at the time of recession. I think you are trying to do advocacy effort. Without getting approval from core IV group it will not be any use as advocacy effort only will not work. Senators will note your concerns and will act only if some bill is introduced. You need lobbying with advocacy effort for changing any law. Lobbyists will lobby only at right time as if they do in wrong time it will backfire.

1) Mr.Obama (Change) alone don't have to do something about it? he can direct his DHS and CIS people to do their jobs right.. just because of economy is bad that does not mean people stop eating and kids stop going school.
2) We and institutions like IV needs to come up with agenda to lift this country quota ban (at least to eleminate this huge backlog)
3) IV says they have agenda but nobody knows what thier laundry list is.
4) We need to work for lifting this country quota ... this is the only way out.
