I agree, another argument in support is that if the situation of skilled legal immigrants does not improve many of them may consider other options like Canada, Australia, UK, NZ or even going back home. The employers most likely will outsource the jobs to other countries and once that happens that position is permanently gone from US. Hoewver, if an immigrant is working here the position is still here in US and can be taken by a citizen or a resident here if the immigrant workers leaves the job position.

The standard line amounts to this:
We are highly skilled we are legal and we are stuck and dont deserve this.
This is not good PR. Nobody cares about this.. it will get us nowhere..

2) we are not harming or displacing anyone.
I dont think this can be perceived as tryng to distance ourselves from undocumented workers. There are rare moments when the media does focus on legal immigrants as a group lets make the most of it.

My I-485 application was received by USCIS at 9:01am on july 2nd and signed by R.MICKELS. Hmmm....but still there's no use.

Madam Rice is trying to divert the issue by telling skilled professional from all over the world wants to come here....This is not the issue.....
Issue is there are thousands of high skilled professional with approved labor and I-140 , waiting for years to file I-485.... DOS told then on 13th June that you all can file I-485 and all of the sudden on 2nd July 07 DOS said we can't accept your application...
So madam secretary it's not issue of how many high skilled professional wants to come here. Infact DOS/USCIS/Govt. of US need to think how life is tough for those high skilled professional who already came here and waiting for years to get green card through legal system....
In Fox News this afternoon, the senator has explicitly said that the Chicago lady does not have any "constituional rights" since she is not American citizen. Go figure what they think about us.

I have no problem with porting, but the priority date should be starting from when they acquired required qualifications for the job.
Example, if someone with B.S and 2 years experience had applied in EB3 in 2005 and tries to port now I think it is fair to have the ported PD not in 2005, but 2008 when the person acquired B.S + 5 years experience.
This would automatically address all those folks who deserved to be in EB2 but couldnt either becuase lawyer screwed up or issues with sponsoring company.

I guess USCIS has finally came up with the correct receipting procedure. As projected, every July-August 17 filers should be in the system by the end of the month.

This could be one side of story. There were other posts which was mentioning about some fake resumes given by some Indian consultancy companies. So all those are isolated cases and we cannot take into account. I am seeing lot of hard working Americans and Indians as well. Also a family person with 2 kids cannot spend 12 or 16 hours per day compared to Bachlors(Most of the Bachlors who are spending 12 to 16 hours are H1b persons). If assesment is done based on that then that does not make any sense. Then do you thinkyou need to fire more than 35 year Old people and recruit 25 year people That is not American way. This country for long time Top rankholders as well as school dropouts also could survive and Lead a decent quality of life. I knew lot of Indians most of them gc holders and some H1b also those who were just average in skills had tough time in getting job between 2000 to 2004 because of more number of H1B people and also economy was bad. So there is no surprise some Americans also might have similar situation. But past 2 years everybody I knew were able to get job and survive well. This is because of economy and also because of limited H1b. But Corporations are asking too much h1b(unlimited by 20% automatic increase every year and exemption for MS people). Certainly that will kill the demand in job market and bring down the rates. I think H1B increase should be compromise between demand and supply. Otherwise there is going to be huge opposition. Congress cannot only favor Business. But as a Senator they have to take care of all groups of people. There may be a possiblity that H1b increase may happen but EB relief may not happen not that much strong lobbey from Business compared to H1B. American companies lie Micosoft, Intel culd not get H1B people because Indian consultancy companies grabbed all the H1bs in first few weeks of April and May not because of numbers. So that is a differentind of problem

They went on their trip despite being warned 8 months in advance by our boss about a possible tough period during the critical design review of the project by the customer during the month of December.
My 5 hardworking H1B employees helped us out with the project resource planning,allocation layouts, financial statements, project planning and estimation analysis. 3 of them cancelled their trip to their home country just to save our business.
My boss is absolutely incensed and is going to fire these workers once they come back from their vacation.
Agreed that they are not expected to work more than 40 hours per week but during tough times their should be a certain sense of committment and solidarity towards your employer which was clearly lacking in my American colleagues.
According to my boss the current generation of American college graduates is the laziest he has ever seen and clearly ill equipped to handle tough job assignments during a time of crisis. He is lobbying very hard to get the SKIL bill passed and increase access for American businesses to global talent.

2) We should follow up and make appointments Next week (It is a short week) or on Monday 29th November. When we go to this appointment, just focus on the message of this action alert. Do not be tempted to talk about any other issue, Do not take a lot of time and do not present any personal issue. Just talk about this one issue.
3) Please consider getting on a recurring contribution for IV. We need the funds. There are a lot of things that can be achieved if we had a big budget.

Unless we all make a collective effort no one is going to listen to us. I know the fate of my post we all people are busy to get our post noted or express our opinion that we have lost our fous of what our main problem is. I think we deserve this perhaps I dont think if we continue like this we even deserve GCs.

I hope many people will contribute when the days are close. The sad part is that they do not realize that IV needs to know the collection amount details in advance to organize a mega event.
